Man faces multiple drug charge counts in Iowa

On behalf of Foster Law Office | Feb 7, 2019 | Drug Charges

A Marshall County man is facing drug-related charges following his arrest by police, according to local sources. The Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force arrested the 23-year-old recently, and he was expected to appear in court on Feb. 8 for a preliminary hearing. Represented by a criminal defense attorney, the man will have the opportunity to contest the multiple drug charge counts filed against him.

According the report, officers in Marshall County obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest, following charges filed back in Nov. 2018. This reportedly allowed them to search a backpack found at a residence for which the warrant was filed. Inside, they say they found items bearing the suspected man’s name as well as several doses of acetaminophen and codeine, Schedule III and V controlled substances, respectively.

Police say they also found Schedule IV Tramadol Hydrochloride and 22 grams of what they believe to be marijuana. Grinders, baggies and electronic scales were also seized, items law enforcement say are consistent with delivery or trafficking of drugs. The man now faces felony controlled substance violation, possession of controlled substance first offense and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Even one drug charge leading to a conviction can irrevocably alter the course of an accused person’s life, leading to issues with employment, family and the law. This is why Iowa prosecutors bear the burden of proof in all aspects of this case. The man will be represented by a criminal defense attorney, as is his constitutional right, who will work to protect his legal rights and pursue the most favorable outcome in court.
