The delicate balance of families can be tipped for many reasons. In some cases, those family members who are at odds either try to get along or simply go their own ways. There are those situations, however, that stir such powerful emotions that some may react with violence. In Iowa, one young man is facing felony counts after allegedly lashing out in a destructive manner at his father.
Police and firefighters were called to a blaze one night, but the burning home was already beyond saving. Because of the $1 million worth of damage done and the questionable circumstances, police requested the assistance of the Iowa Fire Marshal. As authorities investigated the blaze, they learned that one of the owner’s vehicles was missing. The owner informed police that his son had taken the pickup truck without permission.
By the time the son was located and arrested, he had allegedly used his father’s credit card in addition to taking his truck. He was charged with being in possession of the stolen truck and using the credit card illegally. Iowa police say the investigation began to turn up evidence that pointed to the son, and their interview with the son convinced them to add the charge of felony arson to his counts.
At only 18 years old, the man is already facing felony charges that could compel him to spend many years in prison if convicted.
